A Sterling Outcome

2018 | Polargraph Using Ink On Old Newspaper

This drawing is on an original page from The Daily Telegraph 1952.  I found it in the floorboards of my first home in Lonon in my early 30s.

What struck me was the way in which weapons were advertised like sweets for kids.

The sketch is produced in ink using a polargraph.

It is inspired by the image of Alan Kurdî‎, a three-year-old Syrian boy of Kurdish ethnic background whose image made global headlines after he drowned on 2 September 2015 in the Mediterranean Sea during his desperate flight from Syria.
